What to bring to kindergarten?

  • Named kindergarten bag

  • Named kindergarten sun hat – must cover full face and neck protection (please see our Sun Protection Policy for more information)

  • During the cooler months a coat and warm hat that covers the ears is recommended

  • Named change of clothes that is appropriate to the weather conditions

  • Spare underwear – especially if your child is still mastering toilet training

  • Shoes that are suitable for indoor / outdoor play (thongs/Crocs are not permitted). During the winter months, children can wear slippers indoors.

  • Light jacket / jumper in case of sudden weather change in warmer months

  • Suitable healthy snack / lunch in a named container (see handbook above for ‘Restricted Food’)

  • Water bottle – clearly named – filled with water only

What to wear

Families are asked to dress their child in clothes that are appropriate to the prevailing weather conditions so the children can participate fully in all activities. Children will be encouraged to explore the environment using their senses and “messy” activities are common. Whilst smocks are provided, we cannot guarantee clean clothes. Wash clothing in cold water for better results for paint-based stains.

Footwear

Suitable footwear is essential in a kindergarten setting. For safety during outside play, we suggest shoes or sandals that provide good support and have a flexible sole with plenty of grip. Most importantly –sandals with open toes or slip on shoes such as thongs or crocs are not permitted.

Spare clothes

Please ensure your child has a spare set of clothes in their bag, including underwear, socks, and a jumper / jacket for sudden changes in the weather conditions. Families are also asked to clearly label all articles of clothing sent to kindergarten.

Sun screen, SunSmart

As a SunSmart kindergarten, children must wear their sun hat and sun protective clothing during peak UV months and anytime when the UV is above 3. During the colder months, children will need to bring a warm hat and jacket.
